The right move
We often find ourselves searching for the “right move” or the “right play”. Well, from what I can gather from all the years of life experience thus far, there might not be such a thing. Life happens when you happen so let’s focus on becoming the best version of ourselves without holding out for the perfect moment to showcsase it. As an artist, I find myself making something then suddenly erasing it because “its not perfect” or “no one will understand it”, but truly that was never the point.
The initial point of me making art was to entertain myself and push the boundaries of my own creative abilities. Anything that comes after me posting my art is just a bonus. The fact of the matter is I am learning about myself while trying to learn a new skill. It’s still too early to become a critic. I recently read a book titled “The creative act: A way of being” written by Rick Rubin. In it, he has a quote which reads: “All that matters is that you are making something you love, to the best of your ability, here and now.”
This statement is powerful and reminds me to stay grounded in my expectations of self as I journey through my personal path called life. My journey is unique just like my art. In closing, I just want to remind everyone that there is never a perfect time to do something. You are the summation of the choices you make but no one said that they had to be perfect. In the end, I believe you will figure it out and if not, at least you’ll have an epic story to tell.
